I am a practicing RN, male by birth. I only work in PICU, or Pediatric ICU, and generally specialize in congenital heart defect repairs. I also work as what is known as a travel nurse. This means I travel from city to city, spending 3-6 months in each location. I work under contract to the hospital as well as to my employer, who locates and negotiates the ‘assignments’. I travel with my family that consists of my wonderful wife and two sons, ages 4 and 5.
